The BSE Sensex or the Bombay Stock Exchange Sensitive Index is a weighted index which contains 30 stocks with the base April 1979 = 100. It contains the list of the 30 large and heavy weight stocks and activately traded in the stock market.

The Sensex was coined by Deepak Mohoni.

The current value of the BSE Sensex is around 12856 as on Sunday, the 8th of April, 2007.
